Member Agreement
Members of the CSA will receive a weekly share consisting of approximately 7-12 items (shares will vary in size and weight depending on the time of the season). One aspect of CSA is that members support their farmer by sharing in the inherent risks of agriculture (poor weather, drought, crop failure, etc.) and the rewards (organic, exceptionally fresh vegetables, the bounty of a good season, etc.) involved in farming. CSA farmers purposely plan for such contingencies; the farmers use growing techniques that protect the harvest to minimize the risk and optimize the rewards. On the whole members will get a wide variety of vegetables in plentiful amounts. I understand this principle and agree that there is no guarantee on the exact amount or type of produce I will receive in my share. By participating in the CSA, I am supporting the local farmer as well as more equitable food distribution, and I am helping to create a more environmentally and economically healthy society. By becoming a member, I agree to support the farm with timely payments. I commit to picking up my share(s) weekly and I understand that if I, or someone I designate, is unable to pick up my share(s), they cannot get saved. I also agree to volunteer at distributions approximately twice as required by my CSA location.

fresh baked bread available through CSA

I am writing to let you know that Hot Bread Kitchen is expanding its
CSA bread share program this year to include several new CSAs and we
would like to invite your members to become one of them! If you are
interested, please contact if interested.

Hot Bread Kitchen is a non-profit bakery and job training program for
immigrant women. We bake multi-ethnic artisan breads inspired by the
recipes of our bakers, and make it a priority to use high-quality
local and organic ingredients whenever possible. For example, our
Extraordinary Multigrain bread (a weekly staple in our CSA shares) is
made with organic, whole wheat flour from Upstate New York, and our
corn tortillas are made with 100% organic, non-GMO yellow corn grown
near the Finger Lakes. After women train with us for a period of time
they are supported in securing career-track jobs in commercial baking
or launching their own micro-enterprises.

This year we will be offering CSA bread shares in 2 options:

· a weekly share ($180 for a total of 18 weeks)

· every-other-week (EOW) share ($90 for a total of 9 weeks)

In each distribution members will receive one loaf of our
Extraordinary Multigrain and one additional ethnic or seasonal artisan
bread, which will vary weekly. Once we have committed to delivering
at a CSA, our breads will be available to all members for a la carte
purchase regardless of whether they have purchased a bread share for
the season. We will also be able to offer a limited number of reduced-
priced shares for low-income members.

Here are a few testimonials from some of our happy CSA members in

“We absolutely loved our bread share. With a little one at home, it
was wonderful to have yummy, healthful munchables around every other
week. Can’t wait for the next season!”

-Hillary N.

“The breads were so wonderful! We couldn’t wait to pick up our share
and my daughters went crazy for lavash. Mmmm!”

–Manuela & Family

All of Hot Bread Kitchen’s revenue from bread shares directly supports
our training programs. Your participation this year will allow us to
scale-up our production and employ 5 new bakers during the CSA season.

Again, please contact if you are interested.
