CSA Week 3 Share List

This is an A-week pickup and a cheese pickup. See below for this week's share list from the farm From the Farm:

We are still working on trellising the tomatoes in our new hoophouses – more work than we’d thought! We planted these under cover to hopefully protect them from fungal diseases like Late Blight (a killer of tomatoes), which has already been found in our area. This way less rain will fall on their leaves, and the dry conditions keep fungus away.
Also peas are here – a spring favorite – and most likely the last of strawberries, and the beginning of organic blueberries. Beginning of cucumbers! Summer is here!

Share items for June 25, 28:
head lettuce, 1 head
zucchini, 2 pieces small or 1 large
Snow Peas, 1 pint
Mesclun, 1 bag
Sweet salad turnips, 1 bu
Radishes, 1 bu
Garlic scapes – a perennial favorite! Great chopped, sautéed, with a zucchini and a little soy sauce! Or make a pesto
Cucumbers, 2
Arugula, .25 lb

Fruit share: 1 quart organic strawberries and 1 pint organic blueberries

Egg Share: ½ dozen pastured eggs

Flower share: 1 bunch lavender

CHEESE SHARE: Cooperstown Creamery Colby AND Cooperstown Creamery Tomme Celina. Cooperstown Creamery is owned by Gina Tomaselli. The Tomme, an Alpine cheese, has won awards at the American Cheese Society. Cooperstown Creamery sources their milk from a herd of nearby Brown Swiss cows – the protein in their milk helps create her unique cheese flavors. Gina’s cheeses have even been served at the last White House Inaugural Luncheon that began President Obama’s second term.
